India, Indonesia to boost trade ties
by Vipin AgnihotriIf media reports are to be believed, trade between India and Indonesia is expected to hit a historic high of $10 billion by 2010. But for that to happen both India and Indonesia have to work as a cohesive team and increase the existing cooperation. It has come into the notice that plenty of Indian companies are interested in investing in Indonesia’s information technology, infrastructure, banking and automotive industry.
Most of the Indonesian experts are of the opinion that Indonesia must grab all the opportunities by developing strategic partnership with India, which is a huge country and has lots of comparative benefits. Advanced technology is one of those benefits. As India is one of the world’s biggest pharmaceutical product suppliers, there is hardly a surprise that Indonesia is quite keen in working with India in the pharmaceutical sector.
In my opinion, both India and Indonesia have a fast-growing domestic market in Asia as well as abundant natural resources. Therefore, if the potential of both the countries are combined, Indonesia and India will get plenty of benefits of their cooperation.
