India’s CII signs MoU with France’s GICAT
by Jo BlackConfederation of Indian Industry (CII), a non-government, not-for-profit, industry led and industry managed organisation, which plays a proactive role in India’s development process, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the GICAT (Grupement des industries franchises de defense terrestre), French Defence Industry Association for Land Systems.
The MoU, which was signed on Wednesday (June 18, 2008) at Paris during the India Day celebrations at Eurosatory 2008, is for close defence industry cooperation between India and France.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Mr Pradeep Kumar, Secretary Defence Production, Ministry of Defence India, H.E. Mr Ranjan Mathai, Indian Ambassador to France and other senior officials from India and France.
The 9th Eurosatory Exhibition, with the specific theme ‘Shaping Tomorrow’s Defence’ started on 16 June at the Paris-Nord Villepinte Exhibition Centre.
The Eurosatory exhibition will conclude on 20 June.
CII has taken a strategic initiative to take the Indian defence industry outside for defence cooperation for the first time.
As part of the Eurosatory, CII and their partner GICAT are coordinating focused activities on India.
The activity involves taking a delegation, organising India Day Celebrations and coordinating the cluster of exhibition of Indian Industry.
CII would be following up these activities in other sectors like Marine and Aviation Sector as well.
