Asia Economy Watch was started in January 2005 - days after the tragic Tsumani killed nearly 230,000 people.

It seemed inevitable that Asia would find herself having to rebuild various national economies, bound to crash after so huge an event.

This site was set up to be a record of that new chapter in the vigorous recent history of Asia’s tiger economies as they rebuilt.

Astonishingly, the economic impact was negligable.

Because it had been mainly rural areas which had been impacted, damage to national economies was minimal.

In fact, the rebuilding of coastal areas actually served to stimulate a lot of local economies.

So this site failed to write a tragic new economic chapter - and found itself simply cataloguing the continued development of Asia’s economies.

And so it’s remit continues - to make an historical record of the economic development of Asia - Japan’s powerful Nikkei index, China’s aggressive economic development, and the impact these have on the smaller Asian economies and markets not easily covered by the major news outlets - Malaysia, Singapore, Pakistan, Thailand, and so on.

Asia Economy Watch is now regularly updated and administrated by Britecorp Ltd, a private incorporated company in the UK.
