South Korea’s composite index was up 1.8 percent to 1,142.99, an all-time closing high, on a volume of 407.5 million shares traded and with exporters leading the way.

Thailand economy contracts - growth figures revised
by Brian TurnerFigures released Monday by Thailand’s national planning agency showed that the Thai economy shrank by 0.6 percent in the first quarter of 2005 due to the effect of drought, December’s tsunami, and rising oil prices.

Fears for Chinese growth

Contributing factors were oil prices and concerns about China’s economic growth.
